01: Packaging

Mo-Ka Mahjong

The traditional Mahjong tiles have been reimagined as Mahjong cards, a game commonly played during Chinese New Year. This modern twist makes the game more accessible and convenient for play anytime, anywhere. The packaging draws inspiration from traditional Chinese hand fans, adding an elegant cultural touch. The card designs feature illustrations of traditional Chinese snacks, such as pineapple tarts, icing gem biscuits, and ang-ku-kueh, all commonly enjoyed during Chinese New Year. The colour palette is inspired by the vibrant hues of the Baba-Nyonya culture of Malaysia, appealing to the younger generation while paying homage to its Chinese heritage.

02: Publication

On the Spectrum

On the Spectrum offers a thorough yet accessible analysis of autism, covering topics such as its diagnosis and the diverse ways it manifests in individuals. The book simplifies complex concepts from the DSM-5 (The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Illnesses 5th edition) making them easy to understand for readers. Featuring personal stories throughout, the book aims to raise awareness about autism in young adults, a group often overlooked in mainstream media, which typically focuses on children and parents.

03:Event Identity

Kuala Lumpur Design Week

My KLDW poster is a modular typographic layout inspired by the classic game ‘2048’.  Incorporating the puzzle-like gimmick in the animated version of my poster. I chose the Malayan tapir as my main design element because of its unique fur pattern and to highlight the importance of this endangered species. I paired it with leafy elements that resembled a traditional Malay dish ‘ketupat’ known for its intricately woven, geometric design. By merging these cultural motifs with contemporary design principles, the poster pays homage to Malaysian culture, celebrating both its natural wonders and artistic traditions.

04: Corporate Identity

Captain Ice

To modernize and strengthen Captain Ice’s brand identity, a simple yet iconic polar bear mascot has been introduced. It adds a friendly, memorable personality and symbolizes Captain Ice’s dominance in the ice market, like the polar bear as the Arctic’s apex predator. The tagline “Keeping it COOL” reinforces how Captain Ice makes buying ice easy for consumers. The color scheme revamps the original blue into a more vibrant, modern tone, while yellow acts as a contrasting accent, representing the golden stripe on a captain’s hat.

CU Mart x Captain Ice

“Ice to CU” is a playful brand collaboration with CU Mart, inspired by its tagline “Nice to CU.” The campaign launches Bear Bear Ice Cubes and limited-edition Collectible Bear Ice Cups. The supporting tagline “Tastes Better” highlights how Captain Ice enhances drinks. With cup ice trending among Gen Z’s for its convenience & mukbangers, this presents a prime opportunity for Captain Ice at CU Mart.
